Journalling + Travel
Keeping memories are important; thoughts, photos, travels & artwork. While travelling I felt compelled to keep all these things together, a sole place to look back on, whether to reminisce or to mark growth against.
Travelling (whether it’s 1 month or 1 year) is a vital part of growth for many people, it’s natural instinct to explore & learn and it’s been on my agenda for sometime. To experience other cultures is to experience a depth of inspiration and knowledge that can only be gained with first hand accounts, with emotional attachment.
Keeping little notes, trinkets and tactile memories sparked this scenic bell jar design.
The mystical view of Bich Dong Pagoda, Ninh Binh - Vietnam was one that must be seen to feel the true magic. A small stone bridge over a lotus and lily pad covered pond led to a system of caves, temples and carved steps up to a mountain viewpoint of vietnam’s iconic limestone karst and rice paddies.
While travelling was filled with endless exploring and inspiration, I lacked a creative outlet. The form of mixing my experiences with artwork gave light to some new styles of mark making and creating while on the road.
