What a wonderful weekend! Native Makers is a beautifully curated market of creatives who come together to showcase their work at the Royal William Yard, a rustic & soulful location in the heart of Plymouth, Devon.
I thought this design idea and medium bonded well together, the snake & skeleton representing the old and new, the progression and evolution of each of our individual journeys.
First batch of screen printed canvas tote bags have arrived & I’m stoked on them!
These heavyweight canvas bags are ‘Salvaged’. Made from 60% recycled pre-consumer organically grown cotton & 40% recycled post-consumer polyester.
This ins’t much of a blog post as I don’t have much to write about this design but I am excited to share. I was stoked to recently tattoo this crane that I drew up a few month ago. A first for me as I haven’t drawn many birds and took inspiration for this from eastern culture.
There is more behind this design than first meets the eye and I wanted to take some time to explore and explain the roots of this idea and how it came to be. I hope to share some insight and view this journey from a different perspective. Although it is nothing new, its important to be reminded every now and again.
I feel immensely humbled when someone connects with my artwork and wants to carry it with them as an emblem. Tattooing creates a window for brief but ever lasting encounters with different character brought together with the sole connection of art.
I think its important to make memories more tangible and tactile & printing polaroids is the perfect instant way to do this, memories feel like a little treasure than you can physically store somewhere safe.
Journalling + Travel
I felt completely absorbed & present in the experience while visiting Ha Long Bay - Vietnam, an other-worldly landscape steeped in myth and magic. I wanted to capture this , keeping with the bell jar theme & collecting memories.
Keeping memories are important; thoughts, photos, travels & artwork. While travelling I felt compelled to keep all these things together, a sole place to look back on, whether to reminisce or to mark growth against.
